Federal Laws

Although no federal law directly addresses bullying, in some cases, bullying overlaps with discriminatory harassment when it is based on race, national origin, color, sex, age, disability, or religion. When bullying and harassment overlap, federally-funded schools (including colleges and universities) have an obligation to resolve the harassment. When the situation is not adequately resolved, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division may be able to help.

Please take a stand in Rallying Against Bullying. I know a young person who is being bullied and I'm rallying to make a change, make a difference, and make children everywhere know that someone is looking out for them and their well-being.

I created this blog for him and with him in mind. Continue to check out this blog for continued informtion and updates on bullying. And don't hesitate to leave a comment below each post and let me know your thoughts and feelings on the subject. Thanks everybody.

No Bullying Allowed Stock Image - Image: 23541231Say no to bullying in schools and online. Three effects of bullying/cyber-bullying are
suicide, anger and withdrawal, depression and anxiety. Some children who are bullied reach a point where they can’t handle the abuse anymore, and resort to killing themselves.

The increased incidences of bullying have caused great concern to many. As such it has forced society and the government to acknowledge the fact that bullying is real and is happening in schools and online, and has caused detrimental circumstances for all involved. Bullying has been present for generations, but has now taken a more drastic turn in modern day society.

The most known bullying which occurs in real life has now evolved into what’s known as cyber-bullying, where individuals are being harassed in the most extreme sense by people who taunt others through the computer. The effects of bullying can lead to: suicide, anger and withdrawal, depression and anxiety. Although bullying still hasn’t gotten the full attention that it deserves, there are many outlets that are being implemented to resolve the issue, in hopes that future generations won’t be affected by such harassments.

Help to end cyberbullying, it's just as hurtful.
